Locations & transfers

Run multiple stores and warehouses with true per-location stock and a disciplined transfer workflow.

Locations

Add locations under Settings → Locations and choose a default. On-hand is tracked independently per location, so stock in one store never hides a shortage in another. The header location switcher appears once you have more than one location and scopes the app to where you're standing.

Transfer sources

Give each location an ordered list of transfer sources: the warehouses it may request stock from, in priority order. This drives smart reorder: a location fulfills demand from its own sources before raising a purchase order.

The transfer workflow

Create a transfer as either:

  • a pull request, where a destination asks a source for stock, or
  • a push order, where a source sends stock to a destination.

Each line is validated against the source's real on-hand, so you can't transfer stock that isn't there. The transfer moves through Pending → Shipped → Partial → Fulfilled (or Denied).

Stock moves only on receipt

  • Ship records what left, but doesn't move stock. Shipped but not yet received stock is still counted as transfering in the source's on-hand.
  • Receive posts the paired transfer-out / transfer-in movements for each received increment.
  • Close posts a transfer-shrink at the source to reconcile any shortfall.

Denials require a reason, and an authorized user who outranks the decider can override a denial.

Where it shows up

Pending incoming transfers surface on the dashboard, the inventory list has a Transfering column, and a date-filtered transfers report (denials and overrides) lives under Reports.
